Air Cleaner Study
About the Study
Do-it-yourself (DIY) air cleaners are an easy, affordable, and effective way to reduce indoor air pollution. These air cleaners cost about $50-75 to make, using materials you can find at your local hardware store, and do as good a job of cleaning the air as commercial products that cost $150-300.
The Mountain West Hub is working with West Denver and the San Luis Valley communities to assess how well these DIY air cleaners work in people's homes to reduce air pollution and improve health.
In early 2026, we'll be doing a feasibility study with about 10 homes in each community. Later in 2026, we will launch a larger study in both communities.
